DISCLAIMER: based on true stories. No feelings were hurt in the making.
Why do girls always say “I have a man” if they’re not interested?
We use it because it seems to be the only excuse that somewhat works, because saying you’re not interested or just airing a message can often end ugly.
I’m sure each and every one of us has had the situation where you’re approached by someone you’re not feeling, or you're just genuinely not interested to get to know someone. *panic mode*

So, while he’s coming over, you’re analysing him to use which ever excuse will be most suitable.
And you can say, ‘why don’t you just say it with your chest’ as much as you want. We all know if we did, it will end with ‘you’re clapped anyway.’
“I’ve got a man”
We’ve all said it, even when were seriously single and complain about it almost every morning, day and night. “I’ve got a man” seems to be the only excuse that somewhat works without creating a situation you didn’t intend to happen. He’ll often say, ‘oh my bad’ and walk away. Cool, you’re out of it. Right?

Wrong.
What about the odd few who really push the line? You know the ones who say, ‘what you can’t have friends nah?’ Do you know what? Yeah go on then, let’s be friends. Get ready to deal with my emotional breakdowns and give me advice on how to stop my period from hurting, besties! NO.

You don’t actually want to be friends, just like I actually don’t have a man. It’s the game.
Even if you do have a man (can’t relate lool)
When someone starts a conversation with you, and you can see it’s going down the route of you’re being moved to. In the back of your mind, all you can think of is, ‘when do I mention this guy has 0 chance because I actually have a man’. Because, if you say it before they even open their mouth, it’s that, ‘you’re stush.’
But then leaving it until he asks, if he does at all, number one, means you’re technically entertaining the situation by engaging conversation and two, only leaves room for, ‘why didn’t you just say that at the start?’ you already know how it goes, if you’d cut him off with, “I have a man”, you’d be prestige *rolls eyes* Girls can’t win.

Honestly, we’re not trying to deflate your ego. Sometimes, we’re simply just not interested.
